Fredericksburg,
Texas in the heart of the Texas hill country is abundant in attractions not only in the city itself, but in the surrounding texas hill country. Fredericksburg, was founded in 1846,
by German settlers and its charm and heritage endure to this day.
Fredericksburg, with all of it's shops, museums, galleries and fine
restaurants brings tourists from all fifty states and many foreign
countries. Austin Texas and San Antonio Texas, each just a little
over an hour away, with all of their attractions, also make great
day trips during your stay. The hill country around
Fredericksburg Texas, with its splendid scenery, rivers, lakes, wineries,
scenic drives, and state parks will also delight any traveler.

BAT TUNNEL STATE NATURAL AREA
Old San Antonio Road, 101⁄2 miles south of U.S. 290 East.
One of the largest concentration of bats in Texas may be seen in flight

ENCHANTED ROCK STATE PARK
RR 965 (18 miles north of town). The rock is the second largest granite
formation in North America. It provides great family hiking and picnicking
with glorious views. 915-247-3903. FISHING
Fishing opportunities are available in Hill Country State Park and
at area lakes. The closest place for kids to drop a line in the water
is Lady Bird Johnson Park (Highway 16 south). Day fishing is available

FORT MARTIN SCOTT HISTORIC SITE
106 E. Main - Visit the pre-Civil War (1846) military outpost to learn
about one of the first frontier Army forts in Texas. FREDERICKSBURG

LBJ STATE AND NATIONAL PARKS
LBJ Ranch Area-Hwy. 290 East, 16 miles. The 700 acre State Park
includes the Sauer Beckmann Living History Farmstead, hiking, picnic
and rest areas, along with swimming and tennis. LBJ ranch bus tour

and recreational area, beautiful 18 hole golf course, swimming pool,

LUCKENBACH TEXAS – RR 1376 South, 4 miles
Established as a trading post in 1849.
The tiny hill country hamlet consist of a general store/souvenir shop,
dance hall, bar, and post office and has been made famous by such
country music greats as Willie Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker.
NATIONAL HISTORIC DISTRICT
Listed in the national Register of Historic Places, the district has
over 80 points if historic interest and significance. See many
of Fredericksburg's famous structures and the pride taken in both
homes and businesses by local residents. NATIONAL
MUSEUM OF THE PACIFIC WAR – 304 East Main St.
The Steamboat Hotel, contains the Admiral Nimitz Museum with three
floors of Pacific War items. The museum also features the George Bush
Gallery of the Pacific War, The Plaza of the Presidents, Japanese
Garden of Peace, Memorial Walk, and the Pacific Combat Zone.
PIONEER VILLAGE COMPLEX – 309 W. Main

Vineyard has 36 acres of French Vinifera grapes and Winery features

Designated by the federal government as Texas first wine growing appellation

The Fredericksburg Winery is owned and operated by the Switzer family
